Kimberley Orton RP (Qualifying)
Registered Psychotherapist
Perinatal Therapy, Relational/Couples Therapy, General Counselling
My name is Kimberley (she/her) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario, with services that are covered by most extended health insurance plans. I am a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a Registered Midwife and have been involved in reproductive health, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care since 2006. This unique background allows me to offer specialized support for individuals and families navigating fertility journeys, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, parenting transitions, relationship challenges, birth experiences, grief, and reproductive loss. My work also recognizes how trauma, stress, and grief can be held in the body, and I support clients in gently exploring these experiences with compassion and care.
I aim to create a collaborative, trauma-informed counselling space where your experiences can be seen and understood. Together, we work to make the invisible visible, helping you reconnect with your strengths and recognize yourself as the expert of your own unique story and lived experience.
I also hold a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, and I bring a deep appreciation for storytelling and narrative therapy into my psychotherapy practice. I believe that the ways we tell and understand our stories can be powerful tools for healing, meaning-making, and personal growth.

About Me & How I Practice
With a deep understanding of the emotional challenges that arise during periods of identity change, life transitions, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting, I offer a collaborative, trauma-informed psychotherapy space where you can explore your experiences safely and honestly. My practice supports individuals navigating perinatal mental health challenges, anxiety, depression, fear, relationship difficulties, body image concerns, grief and loss, and feelings of losing a sense of self.
Together, we can gently explore the emotional landscape of your experience and develop tools to help you move forward with greater balance, self-compassion, and clarity. Using integrative, evidence-based approaches—including narrative therapy, feminist therapy, relational-cultural therapy, and person-centred counselling—I support clients in navigating complex life transitions while strengthening relationships with themselves and others. My goal is to help you find your voice, develop meaningful coping strategies, and cultivate healthier, more fulfilling connections in your life.
My work lives at the intersection of psychotherapy, midwifery, and storytelling. With a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and experience as a former midwife, I understand the profound power of personal stories in shaping identity and healing. I specialize in supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum adjustment, reproductive experiences, and parenting transitions, bringing warmth, compassion, and deep understanding to each unique journey.
As a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology graduate, I work collaboratively with clients to explore their stories, reconnect with inner strengths, and build resilience. I believe that sharing and witnessing our experiences—especially around birth, parenting, and identity—can be profoundly transformative. Together, we can weave and re-weave the threads of your life story, honouring its complexities while creating space for healing, empowerment, and renewed hope.
